Welcome to Jumpstart Your Career Journey, hosted by Paul Santu and Leticia Robertson. Hello, I am Letitia with Jumpstart Your Career Journey and welcome to our show. Now, although I'm solo today, you definitely still receive the same helpful tips that will help you reach your career goals. So today's uh I will be discussing 11 tips for an effective job search process because you definitely want to have a job search process. If you're looking for the perfect tool to kickstart your job hunt, learn how to set up and optimize your profile, create job alerts, and apply directly from your phone with indeed mobile apps. Though that that now that was just a little nugget I want to add in there. But your first tip will be create a plan. So in other words, you decide that you're gonna maybe Monday through Friday, you'll you'll apply for five jobs. You know, that would ensure that you're applying for enough jobs and that you have a steady flow and track sheet. You can keep that so that you ensure that you know responses and who where you sent the resume to, uh, the email addresses, those type of things, those definitely help. Um, also tip number two is diversify where you look. So not only looking at those job websites, but go directly to the company's career website. That really helps because sometimes with those job websites, your um resume tend to get lost in the shuffle. Major tip, this is definitely a major, major tip here. Understand your industry. So if you're applying, let's say you're applying for um a job in IT, you definitely want to know the lingo and things of that sort. So be sure that you're you're um well versed in the industry. You know, you know exactly how to speak with someone who's in that industry, and then that way it'll help, you know, them show it'll help you show you and convey your experience as well and your your networking skills and things of that sort. Now, um this is a uh a good one too. Build skills while you wait. There are a lot of companies that have like little online classes that you can take. So, you know, if you don't have the time to actually go out to a college or university and take a class, there are a lot of certifications that you can take online. You can do right from home. So that is a good way uh so that you can um take it. It's you know, you can use your time wisely, I think. Another thing is customize your application materials so um you're likely to get better results if you tailor each cover letter and resume to the individual job that you're applying for. So uh you definitely want to customize those materials. Um, some companies they don't require you to have a cover letter, but I think you should definitely add a cover letter to uh what you're you're when you're applying, you know, to your resume when you're applying. Um you can also use social media to find jobs. You can use uh many social media sites in your job search. Most businesses have some sort of of social media presence. Um even there if they're not very active on every platform, you know, they have some type of uh social media presence. And sometimes they will post on there when they're looking for a particular position, uh, or you know, they have the particular position open. So that is definitely a good way to uh you know seek a job. Also, this is very important. Research your potential employers, you know, you want to understand the industry that you're working for, understand the company. You know, there's a good chance that you can find a company to ensure that there's long-term, you know, there's longevity within working with that company. I mean, they're not going to close within the next month. And it also helps you understore, understand their culture, you know, of their of you know, their work culture and how that, you know, you can fit in that in that work culture. Also, um, now while you're waiting, you should prepare your interview responses. I mean, there are a lot of common um resume uh interview questions that recruiters will ask. And it's always good if you have your answers ready, you know. And also don't be generic or vague, you know, really think about your response. Don't just blurt out any response just because you want to be quick and get the get it over with. Uh, another thing is network in your preferred industry. So, because a lot of the companies may have little small networking events and conferences, so it's always good to network within that industry. You know, you'll get to know a lot of other people, you know, people within that field. So that's always good. And my final tip that I think is a really good tip, send a thank you. You know, once you've interviewed, send a thank you. Let them know you appreciate them taking the time out of their schedule to meet with you. You know, that's always it, it, you know, it'll keep you top of mind. You know, if it they'll they may go back looking through their paperwork and they're, hmm, you know, Miss Johnson sent me a thank you. Let me check her out. You know, so that's always, always good. Um, I thought that was my final one, but this is a really, really good one. And I know it's hard to say, but be patient. When you're out there and you're you're looking for a job, you know, you have to have a little patience because sometimes, you know, these companies they get so busy, they don't get the opportunity to, you know, speak with you right away. But you know, that they they will definitely get back to you. I think so. They will definitely get back to you, especially if they're if they're interested in their working for you. Well, once you work for them rather. Okay, so I hope that these tips help you.
